The State Government, with a view to popularize energy Efficiency and Conservation measures has instituted "State Energy Conservation Awards" vide G. O.Ms.No.150 dated 12-12-2006, for the following categories:

1. Small & Medium Industries
2. Universities, Residential Engineering / Medical & Degree Colleges
3. Government Buildings
4. Urban Local Bodies
5. Lodges & Hotels with more than 50 rooms
6. Bus Depots in Transport Sector having a fleet strength of more than one hundred
7. Hospitals and Nursing Homes with more than 50 beds

The State Government also ordered that A Core committee be constituted with the following members for dealing with all matters connected to the institution of State Energy Conservation Awards and incidental thereto:

1. Vice Chairman and Managing Director, NEDCAP- Member & Convener
2. Chairman, Energy Conservation Mission, Institution of Engineers - Member
3. Director, Center for Energy Technologies, Osmania University- Member
4. Nominee of AP Transco - Member

The Core Committee is further authorized to co-opt a member either from the recognized association of each category or an eminent entrepreneur form that category for proper representation of each category. The Core Committee may also co-opt one accredited Energy auditor and one or two Energy Experts from the relevant field.]

As it is likely to take about 6 months to formulate the eligibility criteria and for designing suitable format for reporting, method and procedure for verification / validation and the scheme is to be given adequate publicity before launching, the "State Energy Conservation Awards" will be launched on 14^th December 2007, National Energy Conservation Day, followed every year.
